Code of conduct
This code of conduct to apply at meetings of PLUG, the PLUG social club, whilst on training or recreational activities and at any other meetings that PLUG members attend. It also applies to representatives/employees of external agencies when attending events related to PLUG.
- To respect the personal privacy of other PLUG members and to remain aware that personal matters discussed in meetings are confidential and may not be discussed outside the PLUG. Some information, such as details around training, newsletters and events will need discussion outside the meetings.
- To attend meetings in a coherent state. If the group assess a member as under the influence of either drugs or alcohol to a degree which impairs their ability to engage with the group then that member will be asked to leave.
- To respect the views and opinions of all other members of the group or meeting.
- To refrain from using judgemental, abusive, dismissive or aggressive language or behaviour
- To ensure that mobile telephones are switched off during meetings
- To be mindful of the fact that other PLUG members may be at a different stage of their treatment journey or recovery and, where appropriate, make allowances for this fact.
- To be aware of the difference between personal opinion or beliefs and the opinions of the PLUG – and to ensure that others are aware of this distinction when members are attending any event as a representative of the PLUG. This item also applies to written material that is produced by or on behalf of the PLUG.
- To respect the authority of the designated chair of the PLUG meetings and the chair of external meetings that members might attend as representatives of PLUG.
- To leave any venue used by PLUG on time and in a clean and undamaged state. Any damage caused will be the responsibility of the individual member.
- Any physical assault on another member will result in the police being called and being banned from the group. Return to the group at a future date will need to be agreed within the group.
